Do you have the passion and determination to make a difference in the lives of people with complex needs?
Roman House is a bespoke Residential Service designed to support up to six autistic adults, or those with learning disabilities and associated needs, to develop the skills and confidence necessary to lead a more independent life.
Located in Milton Keynes, Roman House supports people who are stepping down from secure units and hospitals, or who may have experienced previous placement breakdowns. The service is part of a tiered supported living and supported living plus service, which comprises Fenny Mews and Stratford View.
Roman House consists of six ground floor flats, paired with various communal internal and external areas. Everyone who lives at Roman House has their own bespoke flat and Individual Care Package to meet their specific support needs.
All flats include a bedroom, living room and dining space and en-suite facilities. Four of the flats also have a kitchen, which is used to help develop skills and independence. A number of the flats also have separate entrances, in addition to the main entrance, and separate gardens, which can be ideal for those who may find it hard to integrate with others, or who are keen to develop their independence further.
At Roman House, communal space includes a living room, large dining room and a kitchen, all of which are carefully designed with low arousal finishes and furnishings.
Roman House benefits from a sensory room that has been specially designed to combine a range of stimuli, including lights, colours, and furnishings, to help people to develop and engage their senses. There is also a safe and spacious communal garden which is home to a covered hot tub, sunken trampoline, and double-swing.
Our residential provision is far removed from traditional models of support— with a focus on community integration, proactive development of independence and Individual Care Pathways.
Our qualified team members provide each person with the care and support that they need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – providing a safe, positive and stimulating environment. Services are carefully designed to meet the needs of the individuals who live there —adapting provision to meet individual need, whilst ensuring staffing structures and training are built around each person.
We are proud to have committed, proactive, and experienced teams supporting hundreds of people across the UK. Together, we put the needs of the people we support at the heart of everything that we do in order to provide consistent, high-quality care.
Our recruitment process is focussed on values, ensuring that we only employ people who believe in kindness, involvement, quality of life and progress. We provide ongoing training, support and mentoring to ensure that our team have the skills required to deliver high quality care.
This service is part of our tiered support model, providing a complete Transition Care Pathway from Residential to Supported Living services on the same site. For people with complex needs, or those who struggle with change, this care pathway creates a balance between familiarity and what is new and decreases anxieties around change. This is proven to facilitate smoother and more successful transitions.
In addition to our highly trained support teams, we also have a specialist in-house Clinical Support Team. The Clinical Support Team is a team of specialists from different disciplines, who work closely together to deliver additional support and expertise to the people we support at Precious.
By having an in-house team, we bring together professionals and practitioners from across different sectors to deliver person-centred, holistic care which focuses on the needs of the individual. With no need to apply and wait for support from external teams, we can provide this specialist support quickly and efficiently.
At Precious, we are committed to improving the support we provide by embedding Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) throughout the organisation. At its very core, PBS is about treating people with respect, putting their needs at the centre and enabling them to achieve the quality and enjoyment of life that everyone aspires to.
PBS takes a person-centred approach to identify which areas of support will be most helpful to each individual. This includes working closely with the people we support to make sure that their choices and goals are heard, respected and actioned.
Roman House benefits from close community links and excellent transport links to Milton Keynes Centre and further afield. The service is within easy access of local shops, sports facilities, employment opportunities, restaurants, and health services.
Many of the people we support also enjoy walks through the grounds of the nearby Bletchley Park and the many waterways and country walks surrounding Roman House.
We provide a rapid response to referrals and we will normally arrange a professional assessment within a few days of your call.
Our highly experienced team will carry out a full and detailed pre-admission assessment, free of charge and without obligation, prior to a placement being offered. This focuses on understanding the unique needs of each person and forms the basis of the their support plans if they move into the service.
