Our residential services and support are far removed from traditional models of support. We focus on individualised environments, community integration, promoting independence and wellbeing and delivering better outcomes for individuals. The communal space at Ontario Court – including a large lounge area, gardens and a sensory room – is designed to enable social interaction and peer engagement/support, with space for joint activities.

Our focus is on increasing independent living skills, confidence and self-coping mechanisms; enabling support to reduce as independence increases over time.

Where is Ontario Court?

Situated close to Peterborough, the people we support have the opportunity to enjoy all that the city has to offer, from museums and shopping centres, to park and recreation areas.

As well as being close to local amenities in the heart of the local community, Ontario court is less than ten minutes’ walk from Peterborough’s Central Park – offering beautiful outdoor space including a lovely sensory garden.

Read Patrick’s story

When he first came to Precious Homes, Patrick needed 3:1 support due to self-harm, physical aggression and suicidal thoughts. Over the past two years, Patrick’s progress has been life-changing. With the assistance of Precious Homes’s in-house multi-disciplinary team and his support workers, as well as a lot of hard work and determination from Patrick, his support has reduced from 3:1 to 1:1.

Pathways of support

Our service model is designed to provide a care pathway, with the aim to reduce support as independence increases. This model is proven to facilitate smooth and successful transitions, which support people to become more independent and move into the community over time.

Ontario Court combines the benefits of a reconfigured period property with a purpose-built extension. The service features large self-contained flats, complimented by a range of communal spaces. The result is residential support that balances the need for personal space and independence with the opportunity for social interaction and communal living.

Ontario Court has been expertly designed to a very high standard, with space that is bright without being overstimulating. Flats have feature walls with pastel colours and modern furniture, while communal areas benefit from comfortable soft furnishings, thoughtful, stylish finishing touches and uplifting artwork on the walls. The flat property has been carefully designed with safety front of mind – with anti-flood bathrooms; heavy, robust, anti-ligature furniture; curved walls; lockable kitchens; and pass operated doors.

Communal areas include attractive dining space, lounges and activities rooms, all of which are designed to encourage the people supported at Ontario Court to spend time with peers and take part in a range of activities. The main lounge features bi-fold doors that overlook the gardens.

Who do you support?

We provide support services for young people and adults with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs, who present with behaviour that may be described as challenging. We also support people with associated physical and mental health needs, as well as those who may have experienced previous placement breakdowns.

How do you ensure a successful transition?

We firmly believe that well-managed transitions between care settings provide continuity of care, reduce stress and ultimately deliver the best possible support and outcomes for every individual. Once the placement is agreed, our experienced team will work with the current care provider to implement a transition plan.

Our in-house Multi-disciplinary team bring additional support and expertise to the process, ensuring that the communications, strategies and planning are in place to ensure a smooth transition.

Championing Success

We love nothing more than advocating independence and championing success. We work closely with the people we support to set goals and achieve aspirations. We celebrate every success, from steps towards independence such as cooking, making a cup of tea or going out to the local shops to big achievements which result in moves to independent living or reductions in support.
