Tailored Design

Red Kite Court comprises of 6 two-bedroom flats alongside a variety of internal and external communal spaces.

With its mix of personal and communal space, Red Kite Court balances the opportunity for independence with social integration and development. This model has proved effective in supporting individuals to become significantly more independent over time.

Each individual is provided with their own bespoke flat and Individual Care Package to wrap around their specific support needs. Flats are available on the ground floor, comprising of two bedrooms, bathroom and living/dining room. All of the flats also have their own kitchen which can be locked if access needs to be restricted.

Communal space: Having a range of bright and friendly communal areas is important to our ethos, encouraging independence and reducing social isolation by providing a welcoming space for communal activities and socialising. Communal space at Red Kits includes two living rooms, a dining room and kitchen. The on-site IT suite also provide opportunities for the people supported at Red Kite to learn new skills.

Hot-tub and sensory room: In addition to the communal areas, Red Kite benefits from a sensory room which has been specially designed to combine a range of stimuli, including lights, colours and furnishings, to help individuals develop and engage their senses. The opportunity for sensory stimulation and relaxation is also met by our on-site hot tub, which we hope to have open during the summer months.

On-site cafe: Red Kite features its own on-site cafe. As well as providing somewhere for our service users to relax with a drink and socialise with friends and family, the cafe offers people a safe and familiar space to develop their independence before venturing further afield. We hope to be able to use the cafe space to offer a range of activities, as well as give service users work experience.

Community integration

Based just outside Gloucester, Red Kits Court benefits from access to local shops, restaurants, sport facilities, social groups and health services. Access to these services plays an essential role in community integration, social skill development and facilitating positive relationships outside of the service. The service also benefits from community links, transport links and a team with extensive knowledge of the local area.

Our Multi-Disciplinary Team

Our in-house Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) can provide therapeutic and behavioural input on top of a person’s support as an additional resource once agreed individually and/or with the funding authority.

Input can range from clinical consultation; rehabilitative support for someone in crisis; support for complex assessments and transitions; resolving and reducing emotional and behavioural issues through positive behaviour support approaches; observing, training and mentoring support teams; right through to simply being on hand to give extra advice and guidance to our support teams.

Our specialised and highly qualified MDT includes a Clinical Director, Psychology, Occupational Therapy (OT) and Speech and Language Therapy (SALT). Our MDT work in conjunction with our support teams as well as internal Training, Quality and Risk Management and Operational Teams. We also work closely alongside external partners including Behavioural Specialists, Psychiatry, dieticians and fitness experts.
