Matthew has big plans for the Dudley service
We’d like to say a huge welcome to Matthew Biddle, who joins us as the registered manager at Turaco view and Osprey Mews, our soon-to-be-opened services in Dudley.
During his ten years at MIdway Care, Matthew progressed from support worker to locality manager, overseeing 3 complex services all with good CQC reports. However, when the vacancy arose at Precious, Matthew saw the valuable opportunity to set up a new service and make a difference, joining Precious Homes in November 2019.
Matthew explains, “My aspirations are to make a real change to people’s lives and promote independence and life skills. Ultimately, I’d like to make Dudley the flag ship for care with community professionals and families. I want the services I manage to stand out from the crowd in terms of best practice and quality care.”
Matthew has already been heavily involved in progress on the new site, having spent time overseeing the build and finishing touches and getting involved in planning, recruiting and training for the opening. When not at work, Matthew has a secret love for musicals, so watch out for him breaking into song when you meet him!
The open day for the new Dudley services takes place in March. Watch our social channels and website for more information.
The Business Development team is growing
With new services opening in 2019 and the Dudley service due to open soon, the business development team have been busy, developing relationships with social workers, commissioners, healthcare stakeholders and families to generate new referrals and business development opportunities. To help manage this increased demand, the team has recently recruited two new business development assistants, who are based at central support.
Daisy Matthews started in the role in November. We caught up with her to find out more. “I was attracted to the role because I want to make a positive difference to individuals’ lives and society,” explains Daisy. After growing up in Norfolk on her family farm, Daisy swapped her love of the muddy English countryside to go to University in Nottingham, where she achieved a Bachelors degree in sociology and a masters in Public Sociology. “My studies give me wider understanding of society and role of organisations such as PHL to provide care and opportunities for individuals to improve their lives.”
While at university, Daisy also worked closely with different charities and organisations and hopes to bring some of what she learned to her role at Precious Homes. Welcome to the team Daisy, great to have you on board!
Sarah Knight also joined the Business Development team in November 2019. With previous experience in hospitality management and Domiciliary Care management, Sarah enjoyed working with people from all walks of life, which is why she was attracted to the role at Precious.
Sarah explains, “The company makes such a positive difference in the lives of people that may otherwise not have the opportunity to live independently and integrate into society. I’m really looking forward to watching our service users grow as they journey towards independence with Precious Homes.”
As well as her passion for helping others to enjoy life, Sarah has a love for DIY and beauty – so if you see her arrive at work with strangely coloured nails, then you can assume she got her wood varnish mixed up with her nail varnish! Her daughter is also an aspiring singer who appeared and the last series of The Voice Kids!
