Vela Domus Supported Housing Inspection

CQC carried out an inspection of our supported housing service at Vela Domus service on 16th August 2011 and found a number of medication errors. We were extremely disappointed that despite a significant investment in staff training, comprehensive medication policy and procedure, the appointment of a qualified RNLD as manager and the appointment of a quality and compliance manager, this level of error still occurred.

This was an isolated issue at one location and we have taken immediate and comprehensive actions to provide lasting solutions to these errors and prevent reoccurrence. Our supported housing service at Vela Domus has now returned to our usual high standard of medication administration. We are grateful that the CQC inspection brought this matter to our attention. Precious Homes has learnt important lessons from this salutary experience.

CQC are not making a ‘special case’ of Precious Homes Ltd, it is usual practice for CQC to issue a press statement for all warning notices and enforcement notices served against operators.
