Sponsoring Food for Life – transforming lives…

01 Jul 2016

We are proud to announce that Precious Homes are sponsoring 12 young girls at the Food Life Vrindavan, Sandipani Muni School in India. The school supports slum children and aims to give each child greater opportunities in life.

Food for Life Vrindavan is a humanitarian aid organisation and for the past 15 years has worked with some of the poorest villages in India to provide education, food distribution, basic medical assistance and environmental projects to relieve suffering and improve communities.

Mitesh Dhanak, Founder and Managing Director of Precious Homes, explains: “These girls have all been born into slums and a few no longer have parents alive. The school has been set up to change the lives of many slum children and to give them another chance in life.”

Precious Homes will be sponsoring 12 girls each month helping them to get the education they need, including paying for: clean water; hot food; schoolbooks; uniform; equipment and getting to school safely.

“The key aim of the sponsorship is to transform the 12 young girl’s lives.” Mitesh explains. “The campaign really struck a chord with me as it aligns to Precious Homes’ ethos of equipping and supporting people with the skills and experiences they need to achieve – enabling people to really transform their lives.”

Part of the sponsorship also includes money kept aside for each girl until she reaches the age of 18 and has completed her studies: helping to reduce the risk of child marriage and setting the girl up for adult life.

Mitesh adds: “The education the girls receive will help them take charge of their lives, improve their earning potential and enhance their skills and knowledge about health, nutrition and their overall wellbeing.”

“We are very proud to be part of this important initiative and look forward to receiving regular updates from the girls and the Vrindavan team, as well as future planning to visit the school in India to increase and raise awareness of their vital work.”

We will be keeping you updated with the girl’s progress and stories throughout our sponsorship – so keep a look out via our website, facebook and twitter.
