Overview of Arthur House

Arthur House is a residential service providing specialist and proactive support in a nurturing environment, where people’s rights, independence and choices are actively promoted.

The service offers individualised support to young people and adults, with the following needs:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Autism
  • Behaviour that may be described as challenging

The team at Arthur House work in partnership with both Children and Adult’s teams to create clear pathways for young people into adulthood as well as adults on their journey to further independence.

With qualified, experienced and flexible teams on site at all times, this service is set up to provide a safe and effective support environment, enabling each person to maximise their potential and increase their independence in a bespoke and proactive community setting.

The team at Arthur House focus on each individual in a person centred way: designing support plans, risk assessments and strategies with a focus on positive behavioural support.

Our Multi-Disciplinary Team

Input from our in-house Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) can be provided on top of a person’s support when people we support require further therapeutic and behavioural support and intervention. This is an additional resource for people who have had input and cost agreed with the person supported and/or their funding authority.

Input can range from rehabilitative support for someone in crisis; support for complex assessments and transitions; resolving and reducing emotional and behavioural issues through positive behaviour support approaches; observing, training and mentoring support teams; right through to simply being on hand to give extra advice and guidance to our support teams.

Our specialised and highly qualified MDT includes Psychology and Speech and Language Therapy (SALT). We also work closely alongside external MDT partners including Behavioural Specialists, Psychiatry, Occupational Therapy, dieticians and fitness experts.

Through consistency of support, NW has built confidence and through support planning with his team and working together to find interests and activities to take part in, he is now out in
the community, having visits back home to mum and dad and is even going out for meals – Social Worker, Birmingham
