Precious Homes Ltd Shortlisted for National Care Awards 2011

12 Dec 2011

Manager of Ulysses House care home in Birmingham, Michael Scott, has been recognised for his commitment to care and his strong leadership abilities, making it as a finalist in the Great West Midlands Care Awards 2011.

The awards ceremony took place last month (October 2011) where social care workers from across the region joined at the ICC in Birmingham to celebrate the best within the industry. The national finals are due to take place in central London next year.

Michael has worked at Ulysses House, part of Precious Homes Ltd, for five years and has worked within the care industry for eleven years. He was nominated for the Frontline Leader’s Award, which recognises managers who have shown clear commitment to improving the delivery of care and support within their team, and have shown leadership qualities by supporting others to bring about change.

Michael and Deputy Manager, Daniel Eccles, work with a team of 13 at the home to provide specialist community-based residential care for adults with learning disabilities, including those with autistic spectrum disorders and challenging behaviours. Precious Homes Ltd takes an individual approach to each of its service users, dependent on the individual’s needs and unique personalities, as Michael explains:

“Everybody is an individual and should be treated as such. We provide care for six adults at Ulysses House who all have their own unique personalities. We encourage
their personalities to come through and provide whatever support it is they need.”

“I’m delighted to have made it to the final stages of these awards, which is a testament to the whole team we have here, whose support is making a real difference every day to the lives of our service users and their families.”
