Precious’ Got Talent
11 Dec 2019
Just as the excitement from this year’s series of Britain’s Got Talent was starting to die down, Birmingham was hit by a new wave of talent-frenzy. The UK’s favourite talent show was reborn as Precious’ Got Talent, when staff and service users at Swan Court were invited to strut their stuff on stage at L’Uccello cafe. Suzanne Hemming, Social Enterprise Coordinator, shares her write up of the event.
On Friday 20th September we closed the café for a very special event – Precious Got Talent! We ran two heats in August to determine who would be in the final.
We had Service users from Falcon Mews, Robins View and Chamberlain Road and two service users who made the long trip from Autus Court London. We also had some very brave staff, one of whom had travelled from Veryan Place, and some parents who performed for us.
The café was packed with a big crowd and we were treated to some wonderful acts including singers, comedians and one act that incorporated both comedy and singing!
Everybody performed with such enthusiasm and some of the stand-out acts were Stephanie, a staff member from Veryan Place, who sang beautifully; Mandy from Robins View who delivered her lines wonderfully; Biddy, who loves singing; and Sean, who had very carefully prepared a script and costume changes!
Our two worthy runners up were Roy from Chamberlain Road and Mandy from Robins View. There can only be one winner and for her sheer enthusiasm and enjoyment Emma from Autus Court was our worthy winner. Everybody was presented with medals for taking part and our two runners up and winner all received a trophy.
Everybody who attended had agreed that Precious really does have talent!
