New Hire Strengthens Multi-Disciplinary Team at Precious Homes

MerrileeMerrilee Briggs joined our growing team as Head of MDT in June. This brand new post will strengthen the Multi-Disciplinary Team at Precious Homes, allowing us to further improve our clinical offer.

A qualified nurse, Merrilee’s 19 year experience covers all aspects of adult health and social care – specialising in working with individuals with a range of complex needs within learning disability, mental health and homeless services.

A forward-thinking care organisation

Merrilee said: “I am delighted to be joining what I believe is a forward-thinking organisation. Every person I have met so far has demonstrated a very caring and loving approach to their work – with a positive culture being developed across the organisation which I am excited to be part of.”

Merrilee’s focus over the coming months is to build her team with the creation of six additional roles that will increase Precious Homes internal MDT services.

Multi-disciplinary team set for further expansion

“We are developing our multi-disciplinary services to offer PBS Practitioners and Intensive Support Practitioners to our services in all regions across London, Central and West Midlands regions. Their role will be to provide a Positive Behaviour and Intensive Support services to people with learning disabilities and autism spectrum conditions, to improve the quality of services for people who engage in behaviour that may be described as challenging.”

A holistic approach to care

The team will provide training, advice and consultation, depending on needs and the focus required to aid wellbeing. This could be looking at sensory needs, communication, cognitive function, language, social skills, and emotions – focussing on people’s strengths and taking a holistic view of their needs and the support that will be required from operational teams in response.

“This team expansion will see our MDT offer cover all regions across Precious Homes working in a consultative way to support managers and other team members in the management of complex needs.”
