Precious Homes’ fabulous L’Uccello’ café and Social Enterprise in Birmingham works alongside individuals with learning disabilities and autism spectrum condition to provide a range of learning, work experience and training opportunities on site; developing pride, enjoyment and skills and ensuring ‘inclusion for all regardless of disability’.
To find out more we asked Social Enterprise Coordinator, Suzanne Hemming, to provide a summary blog to let us all know what’s been happening at this popular community hub!
Suzanne said, “We have been very busy in our workshop getting prepared for our ‘Craft and Table-Top Sale’ being held at the end of the month. Working as a team, individuals have been showing off their creative skills – making cards; clay figures and sorting out all of our wonderful jewellery donations.
In the Café this month we have had lots of visitors and fun activity sessions: we have welcomed our Group from ‘Reach for the Stars’ who visit the café every Monday; we’ve had a Bingo afternoon, Karaoke session and, nail painting and tattoo sessions with glitter, butterflies and lots of smiles!
We were also delighted to welcome two pupils from Uffculme School who have been completing their work experience within the café – it’s been lovely to have them on board! As always, our fabulous team of workers in the café have been busy increasing their skills: cooking soups and baking cakes and sausage rolls; cleaning; sorting and making lots of coffees!
Now the warmer weather is here our outside area is coming on well ready for the summer months. Our poly tunnels are now sectioned out into individual plots for the people we support to make their own. If anyone is interested in getting a plot please get in touch!
