Inclusive Recruitment at its Best!
09 Sep 2019
Precious Homes’ Talent Team work hard with managers to recruit the very best people to join our growing team, with a host of recruitment events taking place every week across our regions. We caught up with the team following assessment days in North London and St Albans to find out more about the sessions and the amazing involvement work that takes place behind the scenes.
Tony Ferrari, Talent Acquisition Manager, explains: “Our first day in North London was for our service Autus Court, with an event at Southgate Hockey Club. Flora Siddall, Registered Manager, was joined by Emma, one of the people supported at Autus Court.”
The involvement of the people we support in recruitment is a key focus for Precious Homes with more and more people supported engaging in the process.
“Emma was brilliant from the moment she stepped through the door, engaging and assessing applicants; sitting with them as the day was explained; getting involved in task work group sessions.”
Emma also sat in on the face to face interviews, asked questions and even insisted on a “selfie” with each of the applicants!
“Capturing the unique views of the people we support this way ensures our recruitment process is fully inclusive.” Tony adds.
Service-user appointed Recruitment Ambassador for Oster House
The next day the team were in St Albans, recruiting team members for Oster House Supported Living Service – including a very special applicant!
Tony explains: “Kirsten, one of the individuals we support at Oster House, had applied for the role of Support Worker and we duly invited her to attend and participate in our interview process. It was an absolutely magical experience for both Kirsten and our team, as she threw herself into the process and enjoyed every minute.”
Following her interview, Kirsten has been given the role of Recruitment Ambassador at Oster House!
Avril Reynolds, Registered Manager, said: “Thank you so much for making a young lady’s dreams come true”.
Kirsten’s mum said “I’ve just spoken with Kirsten and she is over the moon with her new job. I cannot thank you enough. We are very lucky she has you all.”
