High praise for Highbury Gardens

It’s been a busy few months for the team at Precious Homes’ Highbury Gardens. We caught up with Manager, Vicky Strange, to capture the latest news and success at the London-based residential service.


Vicky said: “We’ve come a long way since the opening of Highbury Gardens back in November 2017. With our CQC Good rating earlier this year and now with a growing team of 14 team members who provide support to four individuals, I am very proud of the service Highbury has become.”

Welcoming new faces to the Highbury family

The newest individual to move into the service is David, who transitioned in June.

Vicky continues, “David has settled extremely well into his new home and is enjoying every moment. In response we have recruited new team members, and the mix of new faces and personalities has really complimented our fantastic team.”

The four men living at Highbury have each received certificates over the past few months in recognition of personal goals reached.

“These person centered achievements are unique to each individual and include fantastic handwriting skills, good money management and decision making. We are also delighted with our vegetable garden which Aamir has helped to create and manage.” Vicky adds.

To support increased personal outcomes the team have also been working creatively to increase their learning.


“One of our team members, Julia, has created a unique Safeguarding and Mental Capacity Act Easy Read quick-guide which has been well received and a useful resource for our team.” Vicky adds. “We’ve also had a number of team building days including BBQs, Chessington Theme Park Trips and certificates awarded within team meetings recognising fantastic work achievements.”

Feedback from professionals and families

It’s not just Vicky singing the praises of her team, the service has received some wonderful compliments confirming their outstanding work.

A health professional linked to the service said: “We have never known a residential service to provide support to someone who is in hospital and who go above and beyond in their communications and methods to help. The communication handover slips are working great and was a fantastic idea to help with effective communication between Highbury Gardens staff and ward staff for the best interests of (the individual). Thank you to you and your team for all that you’re doing.”

Also, positive feedback from a family member, who said: “If it wasn’t for the continued support Highbury Gardens’ staff have given to (name withheld) whilst being on the ward, I don’t think he would have made it through this far. Thank you for everything you and your team have done and continue to do to help (name withheld).
