Chandos Road Gardening Project
13 Sep 2016
Chandos Road is undergoing a huge transformation which has started with the completion of their gardening project – with individuals and team members working hard over the past 3 months to transform their outdoor space into a beautiful haven which has been welcomed by everyone!
Chandos Road is a residential service in Stratford providing rehabilitation to adults with an Acquired Brain Injury who are taking that next step of their rehabilitation back into the community.
The service promotes community integration and works in partnerships with community teams, families and others to promote recovery and ensure the best possible bespoke support is provided to each person.
Manager Marie Goodwin explains: “The garden was not being used at all. It was tired and in need of a huge uplift. Over the past three months’ the team and the individuals who live here have been working alongside a professional gardener to give the outdoor space a complete renovation!”
“The results are amazing, everyone is delighted that their hard work has paid off and they have been able to enjoy the recent good weather. It’s fantastic to see people out in the garden and enjoying the area as an extension of their home.”
The new garden is also being enjoyed by families and friends.
“One of the Individuals who lives at Chandos has young children who are regular visitors. We have set up a football net and the boys go into the garden with their dad to play football which is lovely to see and really beneficial in aiding his rehabilitation.”
The next project is to renovate inside the house with plans for a new kitchen, furniture, flooring and laundry room being rolled out over the coming 6 months.
