Chad’s mission to improve safety and independence in Milton Keynes

Chad lives at the Precious Homes services in Milton Keynes, which are based on the edge of a very busy road. Chad has made it his mission to get safe road crossings on Watling Street to improve safety for the people who live at Fenny Mews and Stratford View.
To achieve his goal, Chad started an online petition to get the local council to consider his views. Chad is no stranger to petitioning for local improvements. When he lived in Brighton, he started a petition to get a bus stop built near his old placement and he won it!
Ashleigh Calder, Registered Manager at the services in Milton Keynes, explains, “Everyone living locally should be able to cross the road safely to access their local amenities. Service users at Fenny Mews and Stratford View supported living services are working on becoming independent and unfortunately at the moment the risk of walking to their local shop is a lot higher because there is no safe place for them to cross the road! Chad’s determination is admirable and we are really proud of him.”
The petition he has started is one of the many steps Chad is taking to fight for a new crossing. He is also working with Talkback and members of the council.
